Where must you visit in Oslo?

“My favourite area has to be Grünerløkka. The area is pulsating with life, filled with many cosy cafes and bars. Life in this part of the city is fascinating and there is always something going on. Sundays are the perfect day to find great bargains at Birkelunden Flea Market. It is hard not to get nostalgic as you browse VHS tapes from the 90s, old books and vinyl records. In this part of the city, you can eat delicious Mexican tacos from Tijuana or revel in French pancakes at Creperie de Mari. Sip a refreshing drink at Aku Aku, the best place for celebrity spotting or just enjoy a beer in the spring sunshine at Parkteatret”.

What is the perfect date venue?

“That depends entirely on the type of date you want, but personally, I like to find something a little active to do. If that sounds like your style then I recommend playing Shuffle Board at Tilt, or Foosball at O’Reilly’s. For something a little quieter, Colonel Mustard offers a great atmosphere where you can play board games among other things”.

And your favourite shopping haunts…?

“When I fancy a proper pin-up dress, I always go to Manillusion and Frøken Dianas Salonger. They have a fantastic selection of retro treasures. If it is a new work outfit I have in mind then Filippa K is my first choice. I am also a loyal customer of Hennes & Mauritz.

What is the perfect venue for a night out with friends?

“If I am ready for a proper night out on the town, then I go to Kulturhuset on Youngstorget. If it’s a celebration, then the 50s style Ryes Bar or Champagneria are perfect for special occasions. For a quiet night out with a beer or two then the Jazz Bar, Django, at the top of Grünerløkka is the place to go. For a mid-week option, Crowbar & Bryggeri, a local micro brewery, located in the hip Torggata is a fantastic option”.

From the Park Inn by Radisson Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, the train will take you easily to the city and back again. Whether you are just having a one-night stop over between flights or are spending a few days there, the next time you are visiting Oslo you won’t have to spend time figuring out the best places to go. Follow Kajsa’s handy local guide to the city and you will be guaranteed to make the most of your time here and experience some quaint, atmospheric places that will provide you with a glimpse of life in the Norwegian capital.
